Your Full Itinerary
Departure — Fly to Mexico City
Depart for Mexico City, CDMX
Your Mexican adventure begins. Board your flight to Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport — one of the busiest aviation hubs in Latin America and the gateway to the most culturally rich, gastronomically extraordinary, and historically layered capital city on the continent. Direct flights operate from New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Houston, and Dallas.
🏛️
Paseo de la Reforma — the heart of the city, steps from Chapultepec Park & the Historic Centre
Arrival in Mexico City — Zócalo, Templo Mayor & Historic Centre
🚗
Mexico City Airport (MEX) → Your Hotel
El Zócalo & Mexico City's Historic Centre
Check into your hotel and head immediately to El Zócalo — one of the largest public squares in the world, surrounded by three of Mexico City’s most important buildings: the Palacio Nacional (where Diego Rivera painted his monumental history murals), the Metropolitan Cathedral (the largest cathedral in the Americas, 250 years in construction), and the ruins of Templo Mayor — the great Aztec temple that once stood at the centre of Tenochtitlán. Walk the cobblestone streets of the Historic Centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and settle into a street food spot for Mexico City’s legendary tacos de canasta for your first proper meal in CDMX.
Teotihuacán Pyramids · Frida Kahlo Museum · Coyoacán
Teotihuacán — City of the Gods
Drive 50km northeast of the city to Teotihuacán — one of the largest and most impressive ancient cities ever built, reaching its zenith between 100 and 650 AD with a population of over 100,000. The Avenue of the Dead — a 2.4km central boulevard — leads to the Pyramid of the Sun, the third-largest pyramid on earth, and the Pyramid of the Moon. Climb the 248 steps of the Pyramid of the Sun for a panoramic view across the entire ancient metropolis spreading out below — one of the most breathtaking archaeological vistas in the world.
Frida Kahlo Museum (La Casa Azul) & Coyoacán
Return to the city and visit the Casa Azul (Blue House) in the bohemian neighbourhood of Coyoacán — the vivid cobalt-blue colonial house where Frida Kahlo was born in 1907, lived much of her life, and died in 1954. The museum contains her paintings, personal diary, wardrobe of Tehuana dresses, and the intimate details of one of the most fascinating artistic lives of the 20th century. Explore Coyoacán’s tree-shaded plazas, artisan markets, and legendary street food stalls afterwards.
Optional Add-On
Lucha Libre Wrestling & Cantina Night
One of Mexico City’s most colourful cultural experiences — a chaotic, theatrical, brilliantly entertaining evening of masked Lucha Libre wrestling at Arena México or Arena Coliseo, followed by a night at a classic CDMX cantina for mezcal, snacks, and the unmistakable energy of the city’s nightlife.
Free Day in Mexico City — Chapultepec, Polanco & UNAM
Mexico City — Explore at Your Own Pace
- Chapultepec Park — the largest urban park in Latin America, home to the National Museum of Anthropology (the finest pre-Columbian collection in the world), Chapultepec Castle, and five more world-class museums
- Polanco — Mexico City’s most glamorous neighbourhood, with luxury boutiques, art galleries, and the finest restaurants in Latin America including Pujol (rated one of the world’s 10 best)
- UNAM University campus — a UNESCO World Heritage Site in its own right, with extraordinary Diego Rivera murals covering the walls of the university stadium
- Roma and Condesa neighbourhoods — leafy Art Deco streets, independent bookshops, craft mezcalerias, and some of the best street food in the world

Private airport transfer on arrival · Caribbean beachfront location
Arrive Cancún — Hotel Zone Beaches & Caribbean Welcome
🚗
Cancún International Airport → Hotel Zone Resort
Check In & First Taste of the Caribbean
Land in Cancún and transfer to your beachfront resort in the Hotel Zone — a 23km barrier island strip of white sand, turquoise Caribbean water, and some of the most dramatic hotel architecture in the Americas. With the afternoon free, walk straight to the beach and let the warm, impossibly clear Caribbean Sea wash away the city. The transition from Mexico City’s altitude and energy to Cancún’s sea-level heat and beach ease is one of the great contrasts in Mexican travel.
Chichén Itzá — New Wonder of the World · Cenote Ik Kil
Chichén Itzá — One of the Seven New Wonders of the World
Drive three hours west into the Yucatán heartland to Chichén Itzá — the most visited archaeological site in Mexico and one of the Seven New Wonders of the World. The centrepiece is El Castillo (the Temple of Kukulcán) — a 30-metre stepped pyramid of extraordinary mathematical precision, aligned so perfectly to the solstices that at the spring and autumn equinoxes, the setting sun casts a serpent-shaped shadow down its northern staircase. Walk the Great Ball Court (the largest in Mesoamerica), the Temple of Warriors, the Sacred Cenote, and the Observatory (El Caracol) — a Mayan building with precise astronomical alignments to Venus.
Cenote Ik Kil — The Sacred Blue Pool
En route back to Cancún, swim in the extraordinary Cenote Ik Kil — a perfectly circular natural pool 26 metres deep, open to the sky through a circular opening in the limestone, with vines and waterfalls cascading down its walls into crystal-clear turquoise water. Sacred to the ancient Mayan civilisation, it remains one of the most remarkable natural swimming experiences in Mexico.
Isla Mujeres — Golf Cart, Snorkelling & Caribbean Colour
Isla Mujeres — The Caribbean's Most Colourful Island
Take the ferry from Puerto Juárez to Isla Mujeres — a tiny 8km island off Cancún’s coast, where golf carts are the only traffic and the colour-saturated streets, artisan shops, and barefoot beach restaurants make it feel like a different planet from the Hotel Zone. Rent a golf cart and explore the entire island in a morning — from Playa Norte (consistently rated among the Caribbean’s finest beaches) to the crumbling Mayan temple at the island’s eastern tip. In the afternoon, snorkel or dive at the Manchones Reef, where nurse sharks, rays, and sea turtles glide through crystal-clear Caribbean water.
Optional Add-On
Xcaret — Mexico's Greatest Eco-Cultural Park
One of Mexico’s most spectacular attractions — an eco-archaeological theme park built around natural underground rivers, cenotes, and coral reefs, with performances of traditional Mexican folk dance, a re-enactment of the ball game of the ancient Mayans, butterfly pavilions, and the world’s longest underground snorkel river. A full-day experience of extraordinary depth and spectacle.

The eco-luxury capital of the Riviera Maya — jungle meets Caribbean coastline
Arrive Tulum — Tulum Ruins & Beach Road
Tulum Mayan Ruins — Above the Caribbean Sea
Check into your jungle-set boutique hotel and visit the Tulum Archaeological Zone — the only ancient Mayan city built directly on a cliff above the Caribbean Sea. The walled city was inhabited until the 15th century and its centrepiece, El Castillo, served as a lighthouse to Mayan traders navigating the coast. Arrive early (8am opening) to see the turquoise Caribbean glittering below the ancient stone walls in the morning light before the tour groups arrive — one of the most beautiful sights in Mexico.
Tulum Beach Road — The Bohemian Caribbean
Tulum’s Beach Road (Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila) is a six-mile jungle-lined boulevard of eco-luxury hotels, yoga studios, beach clubs, open-air restaurants, and bars built from driftwood and recycled glass — all set between the mangroves and the Caribbean. Cycle or take a tuk-tuk along the strip at golden hour for cocktails, fresh ceviche, and the unique atmosphere of Mexico’s most stylish beach town.
Cobá Mayan Ruins · Gran Cenote · Sian Ka'an Biosphere
Cobá — Climb the Tallest Pyramid in the Yucatán
Drive one hour inland to Cobá — an ancient Mayan city of extraordinary scale, spread across a jungle lake system with over 6,500 structures. The Nohoch Mul pyramid rises 42 metres above the jungle canopy — the tallest climbable pyramid in the entire Yucatán Peninsula (climbing is permitted at Cobá unlike Chichén Itzá). From the summit, 360° views of unbroken rainforest stretching to the horizon give a vivid sense of the scale of the ancient Mayan civilisation that once inhabited this landscape.
Gran Cenote — Tulum's Most Beautiful Sacred Pool
Return to Tulum and visit the Gran Cenote — a partially open-sky freshwater cavern system just 4km from the ruins, with crystal-clear water, stalactites and stalagmites, cave fish, and sea turtles swimming through the cavern chambers. Snorkel or swim in the 24°C water — sacred to the Mayan people, who believed cenotes were portals to the underworld — and float through a truly extraordinary natural cathedral of light and stone.
Optional Add-On · Half Day
Sian Ka'an UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Boat Tour
Float down ancient Mayan hand-dug canals through a 1.3-million-acre UNESCO biosphere of mangroves, wetlands, coral reefs, and Caribbean lagoons. Spot howler monkeys in the canopy, crocodiles basking on the banks, hundreds of bird species including roseate spoonbills, and dolphins surfing the bow wave of your boat in the turquoise channels. One of the great eco-experiences of the Americas.

- Morning yoga on a beach platform at sunrise — Tulum has the highest concentration of yoga retreats in Mexico
- Explore Cenote Dos Ojos — a vast twin-chamber cave system popular with divers and snorkellers, 20 minutes south of Tulum

Final Day in the Caribbean — Cancún at Your Pace
Return to Cancún for your penultimate day. Spend it as you please — one last afternoon at the Hotel Zone’s powder-white beaches, a visit to the remarkable MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte) where over 500 life-size sculptures stand on the seabed and can be seen by snorkel or glass-bottomed boat, or a final mezcal-fuelled evening on Cancún’s Kokomo Beach or in the city centre’s Parque de las Palapas with local street food.
Optional Add-On
MUSA Underwater Museum Snorkel Tour
Snorkel above one of the world’s most extraordinary art installations — 500 life-size sculptures of Mexican daily life, created by Jason deCaires Taylor, submerged in the warm Caribbean lagoon.
